UPPER KEYS HABITAT EMBARKING ON ITS LARGEST DEVELOPMENT YET
Marr Properties is proud to be a sponsor and volunteer supporter of Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys which
broke ground this summer on what it
considers its “biggest single undertaking in our affiliate’s 22-year history.
The non-profit is building a
seven-home single-family development on a 5,875-square-foot lot at Mile Marker
97, oceanside, called Mandalay.
The first two-bedroom, three-bathroom
house is scheduled to be built by the holidays. In all, Habitat is building
five three-bedroom 1,160-square-foot homes and two 1,134-square-foot homes.
Construction on the rest of the homes is scheduled to begin in the spring. The
houses will be built on 8-foot columns and parking will be underneath.
Habitate for Humanity was founded in
1976. The non-governmental, non-profit builds houses for lower-income families
who are expected to help build the home. The families pay a down payment and a
monthly no-interest mortgage, but the homes cannot be sold for profit,
according to Habitat’s website.”
