Tomorrow, July 1, 2014, FABIEN COUSTEAU, ocean researcher and
filmmaker, will break his grandfather's, JACQUES COUSTEAU, record for living
underwater. Fabien is leading a team of scientists, educators and filmmakers on
the longest-ever stationary habitat beneath the sea.
The habitat, called AQUARIUS REEF BASE, lies 63 feet below the
surface in the FLORIDA KEYS NATIONAL MARINE SANCTUARY off Key Largo, Florida
Keys.
The project, called Mission 31, aims to build awareness about the
need to protect the ocean and honors a historic expedition 50 years ago by
Cousteau's famous grandfather, explorer, Jacques Cousteau. Read the full story
